Philip K.O. Kunjappy (Chairman)
Philip, a Malaysian was appointed to the Board on 8 March 2011. He joined Sime Darby Berhad as Executive Vice President of Group Corporate Services on 1 October 2010. He is responsible for managing the legal, procurement and sustainability quality management functions as well as the commodity trading and marketing activities including the non-core business operations of the Group. He began his career with Attlee, Edge & Lambert in Birmingham, UK and subsequently joined Price Waterhouse, Kuala Lumpur in 1983. He also served as Finance Manager in Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, Finance Director in Island & Peninsular Bhd and Senior Executive Director, Oils & Fats Subsidiaries in Felda Holdings Bhd prior to joining the Sime Darby Berhad Group on 1 October 2010. Philip is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certiﬁed Public Accountants, Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Malaysian Institute of Taxation.
Zulkiﬂi Zainal Abidin
Zulkifli has more than 20 years of experience in the human resources field. Prior to his appointment in Sime Darby Berhad in 2007, he was attached to Negara Properties (M) Berhad as Senior Manager, Human Resource & Administration and Golden Hope Plantations Berhad (Property Division) where his last held position was General Manager, Human Resources. He was appointed Executive Vice President - Group Human Resources on 1 July 2011. Before assuming this position, he was Head of Human Resource, Plantation & Agri-business Division and Group Head, Group Human Resources in Sime Darby Berhad. Zulkifli holds a Masters in International Affairs as well as a Bachelor in Business Administration from Ohio University, United States of America. He has also attended the Harvard Senior Management Development Programme.
Gerry Stephen Callaghan
Gerry S. Callaghan is Executive Chairman – Asia Paciﬁc Region, he joined Lockton in 2010 having worked with them on a consultancy basis prior to accepting his current appointment. Mr. Callaghan began a lifelong passion with sales, distribution and marketing at the Crusader Insurance Company, part of the Bowring group as a life inspector. Recognizing he had a talent for sales, he resigned and became the ﬁrst commission-only sales agent for the British United Provident Association (BUPA), within 3 years he became the Master Agent for BUPA in the UK and ran a self employed sales Force of 120. He later became Director of BUPA Marketing services before in 1992 setting up his own Private Medical Insurance brokerage, Firstchoice Health (FCH), which became the UKs largest specialist PMI broker for SME sector. The company was purchased by Sun Alliance in 1995 as part of their drive into healthcare and he was retained as Managing Director.
In 1998, when FCH was integrated into the newly formed RSA group, Mr. Callaghan became Sales and Marketing Director for the new-Healthcare and Assistance Division. Upon his return from the USA with RSA he formed a new company call YOUATWORK. It was one of the pioneers of internet voluntary employee beneﬁts programmes and Full Flex beneﬁt trading for employees in the UK. Mr. Callaghan recruited strategic partners such as Barclays Bank PLC who made an oﬀer to purchase the company in 2002; Mr. Callaghan was retained as Managing Director in 2005. While in “retirement”, Mr. Callaghan acted as a consultant for companies ﬁelds as diverse as ﬁtness, absence management, occupational health, and Insurance-ﬁnally accepting a full time position with Aon as Sales and Marketing Director, helping to restructure their sales operation both in the UK and HK.
Mustamir is currently Head, Group Finance of Sime Darby Berhad reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer.
His key roles includes Group financial reporting, treasury management and budgeting & financial analysis. He was previously Head, Strategy and Business Development of Sime Darby Plantation from August 2008 to January 2014 where his responsibilities include strategy formulation, investment evaluation and mergers & acquisition for the Plantation Division of Sime Darby Group.
He joined Sime Darby Group in September 2005 as Manager, Value Management in Group Strategy.
His key responsibilities were in the areas of strategic planning, corporate finance, market intelligence and research for the Plantation Sector at the Group level.
He then joined the Plantation Division in September 2007 as Head of EVP Office, prior to the completion of the merger of Sime Darby, Golden Hope and Kumpulan Guthrie group of companies.
He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, London in 1995, managing audit clients in the Oil & Gas sector. He returned to Malaysia in 1999 and joined the Banking Supervision Department in Bank Negara Malaysia. He left Bank Negara Malaysia in 2005 as Manager in the Investment Operations and Financial Markets Department where he was responsible for monetary policy implementation which include interest rate management and liquidity management in the domestic money market. He holds a degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
Abdul Aziz Zainal Abidin
Abdul Aziz - Fellow of Malaysian Insurance Institute (F.M.I.I.) has over 25 years of experience in the Malaysian insurance and reinsurance industry and has held various senior positions at various companies, including Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance, the Pernas group (insurance broking – retail and reinsurance) and Asia Capital Reinsurance Malaysia (reinsurer) - Khazanah link company.
